Bitcoin Suisse to Relocate Up to 60 Jobs Abroad
Bitcoin Suisse plans to relocate up to half of its jobs from its Zug headquarters as it transitions from a Swiss crypto specialist to a global wealth manager. The company will move as many as 60 positions overseas, primarily affecting back-office and administrative roles, which will shift to Bratislava, Slovakia, or Vietnam. Employees were informed during a town hall meeting, with final layoff numbers to be determined after a 10-day consultation, and initial layoffs expected before the end of the year. Founded in 2013, Bitcoin Suisse initially focused on crypto trading and custody, but now aims to serve wealthy private clients and institutional investors. Group CEO Andrej Majcen stated that the company is prioritizing international growth and plans to leverage its crypto expertise for broader wealth management. The firm has secured regulatory licenses in Liechtenstein, Bermuda, and Abu Dhabi. Majcen noted that the relocation is cost-driven, as services can be delivered more cheaply in Bratislava and Vietnam, and emphasized that it is not related to the current crypto downturn. Zug will remain the headquarters, and the Bitcoin Suisse name will continue.
