Corporate Clients Opt for Cheaper Models Instead of Claude Fable 5
Corporate clients of Anthropic are increasingly turning away from the flagship model Claude Fable 5 in favor of cheaper alternatives. Following the launch of Fable 5, it accounts for only 11% of total spending by companies on Anthropic tools, according to an analysis of expenses from 70,000 companies. The high price of Fable 5 has been the main reason for the shift to more affordable models that can perform most business tasks. For instance, Claude Opus 4.8 is positioned as a more budget-friendly alternative. Meanwhile, OpenAI is showing growth, with an annual revenue rate exceeding $40 billion, made possible by the launch of GPT 5.6. Claude Opus 5, launched at the end of July, has already surpassed Fable 5 in terms of corporate spending. Despite the declining demand for Fable 5, Anthropic continues to grow, with an annual revenue rate of $65 billion in July. However, the July results fell short of investor expectations, which anticipated over $80 billion. This situation raises concerns ahead of Anthropic's IPO, which could reach a valuation of $2 trillion.
