Doctors' Salaries May Be Increased to 40,000 UAH
A petition to raise salaries for medical workers in Ukraine has gathered 25,000 votes for consideration. The author proposes to set the minimum salary for average medical staff at 25,000 UAH, and for doctors at 40,000 UAH after taxes. The petition was registered on the Cabinet of Ministers' website on June 17. As of August 31, it has been supported by more than 25,000 citizens. The author notes that medical workers are under high stress, yet their salaries remain insufficient, which may lead to a brain drain of specialists. It is also proposed to review the basic salary scales, ensure timely payments of bonuses for working in difficult conditions, and strengthen control over the use of budget funds in medical institutions. Previously, the government considered a similar petition, and Yulia Svyrydenko stated the possibility of raising the basic salary for doctors to 35,000 UAH. In combat zones, additional payments are provided: 12,000 UAH for doctors and 9,000 UAH for nurses per month, which could lead to salaries of up to 40,000 UAH for doctors and 27,000 UAH for nurses.
