European Blockchain Convention 2026: Information and Exclusive Promotion
The twelfth edition of the European Blockchain Convention will take place on September 16 and 17, 2026, in Barcelona. This year, the event is more than ever embracing its institutional shift: banks, asset managers, and market infrastructures are taking center stage, with BlackRock, Swift, State Street, and Citi on the agenda. Here’s what to expect, the cost of entry, and the code reserved for the Cointribune community.
In Brief
- The European Blockchain Convention 12 will be held on September 16-17, 2026, at Torre Melina (Gran Meliá) in Barcelona.
- The organizer expects over 6,000 participants and 300 speakers.
- The 2026 positioning is openly institutional: "where Europe does business on digital assets."
- Among the speakers: digital asset leaders from BlackRock, Swift, State Street, Citi, BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank, as well as Stani Kulechov (Aave) and the Cardano Foundation.
An Event Designed for Finance Transitioning On-Chain {#h-an-event-designed-for-finance-transitioning-on-chain}
The European Blockchain Convention has never hidden its ambition: to bring together in two days an ecosystem usually scattered across European financial centers. The promise is encapsulated in an image, that of a "deal floor" where traditional banks and digital asset players meet on the same level.
The 2026 program pushes this logic to its conclusion. While many crypto events highlight protocols and tokens, the EBC places institutions at the center. The list of announced speakers confirms this unambiguously: Nikhil Sharma (BlackRock), Tom Zschach (Swift), Kim Hochfeld (State Street), Nadine Teychenne and Ryan Rugg (Citi), David Calabaza (BNP Paribas), Immo Garlichs (Deutsche Bank), Kathleen Wrynn (Invesco), Previn Singh (Fidelity International). In other words, the "digital asset" leaders from major management firms and custodial banks, not just startup founders.
The native crypto world is not absent either. Stani Kulechov, founder of Aave, the Cardano Foundation, and Animoca Brands are part of the lineup, alongside the UK regulator FCA. It is precisely this mix—TradFi, crypto natives, regulators—that constitutes the central argument of this edition.
Deal Floor, Startup Battle, and Allocator Breakfasts {#h-deal-floor-startup-battle-and-allocator-breakfasts}
The format is calibrated for networking. On the menu: an expanded exhibition area, a networking app that helps identify the right contacts and schedule meetings in advance, closed roundtables among peers, and an "LP breakfast" reserved for allocators, managers, and family offices. The Startup Battle highlights emerging players in market infrastructure.
Thus, it is not a festival in the broad sense, but a dense business meeting, anchored in a hotel—the Torre Melina—rather than on a beach. The difference in dynamics is acknowledged by the organizer, who aims for longer conversations and a conducive environment for negotiation. For a reader seeking public education, this is a point to consider: the EBC primarily targets industry professionals.
A word of caution, as the event itself states: investing in crypto assets is unregulated, may not be suitable for individuals, and the entire capital invested may be lost. The presence of a platform or issuer on stage is part of industry debate, never a recommendation.
-- Price
Pricing and Community Code Benefits {#h-pricing-and-community-code-benefits}
Three levels of passes are offered, all for the two days and all excluding VAT (10%). The General Pass starts at €500 for Early Bird pricing, then €750 for Regular, and €1,800 for Late Bird. The VIP Pass adds lunch with speakers, the opening night on September 15, and access to the Speaker Lounge, starting at €800. The Tiger Pass, designed for business development, includes access to the participant list and three one-on-one meetings, starting at €2,499.
A detail that matters: prices increase in tiers as the date approaches, and a countdown on the website signals the imminent end of Early Bird pricing. It is therefore advisable to book early. Payment can be made in euros or crypto.
The real question posed by this edition remains: if the digital asset leaders from BlackRock, Swift, and State Street are attending, it means tokenization is moving beyond the experimental stage. What will be discussed in the closed roundtables on September 16 and 17 will reveal more about the actual timeline of this transition than any press release. The appointment is set.
