United States Invests 2 Billion Dollars in South Korea
Four American companies will invest 2 billion dollars in South Korea, according to the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. The announcement was made on September 3 in Washington. Air Products and Axcelis Technologies will enhance their facilities in Pyeongtaek, while Corning modernizes its plant in Asan and Pacifico Energy develops a 3.2-gigawatt offshore wind farm. This operation aims to secure contracts in the AI sector and strengthen ties between Washington and Seoul. South Korea plays a key role in the AI supply chain, particularly through SK Hynix and Samsung, which dominate the memory market. These two companies plan to invest over 500 billion dollars in new factories. The Pacifico Energy wind farm aims to power data centers, thereby boosting Korean manufacturers of electrical equipment such as HD Hyundai Electric and LS Electric.
