U.S. Stocks Fluctuate at High Levels, September May Bring Volatility Risks
In August, U.S. stocks maintained an upward trend amidst fluctuations, with the S&P 500 index stalling at high levels, facing pressure from rising U.S. Treasury yields and valuation discrepancies for Nvidia. Despite shrinking trading volumes and narrowing index volatility ranges, the S&P 500 index is currently less than 2% away from its historic high of 7800 points, which it broke two weeks ago. Historical data shows that September is typically the worst-performing month for U.S. stocks, especially in election years, where seasonal factors may impact market performance. Market commentator Michael Santoli pointed out that several key market indicators are in a "stretched" state, and once thresholds are breached, the market could undergo significant changes. Nvidia (NVDA.O) faces a valuation logic trap; although analysts are optimistic about its prospects, with target prices suggesting a market cap could reach $750 billion, the market refuses to pay a premium for its high growth.
