Pump.fun Adds Custom Pairs for Tokenized Stocks and Crypto

  1. The main variable is whether Custom Pairs drives meaningful creator uptake beyond meme-token issuance. The feature expands quote-asset choice, but existing tokens cannot switch pairings, which may limit how quickly activity migrates.
  2. Markets should also watch which quoted assets gain traction and whether tokenized equity pairs remain operationally smooth. Pump.fun said the tokenized assets are issued by third parties and that the platform does not facilitate the buying or selling of stocks or securities.
  3. A third point is whether the new revenue stream becomes material for PUMP’s buyback-and-burn program, since Pump.fun said 50% of revenue from this segment will be directed to that contract.

Pump.fun said on September 10 that it has launched Custom Pairs, a new issuance feature that lets newly created tokens pair against tokenized U.S. stocks, mainstream crypto assets and metals.

According to the announcement, Custom Pairs supports 93 quoted assets at launch. Pump.fun said that list includes 20 new additions such as Boeing, Alibaba, Costco and Dell, alongside mainstream crypto assets and metals.

The platform said the fee structure for Custom Pairs matches its regular token issuance model. However, it added that half of the revenue generated from this segment will be routed to the programmatic buyback-and-burn contract for the PUMP token, tying the product rollout to the platform’s token economics.

Creators can choose a pairing asset at the time they issue a token. They can also choose between a Creator Fee ranging from 0.05% to 1% and a Cashback option, with fees paid out in the quoted asset. Pump.fun said the Creator Fee can be split across as many as 10 addresses, a setup it said supports CTO. Tokens that are already live cannot change their pairings under the new system.

Pump.fun also drew a compliance boundary around the feature. The company said the tokenized assets available through Custom Pairs are issued by third parties, and said the platform itself does not facilitate the buying or selling of stocks or securities. The announcement did not disclose additional details about the third-party issuers in the information provided.

Why It Matters

The launch pushes Pump.fun beyond simple token creation into a broader issuance and market-design model, where the choice of quote asset becomes part of the product. That is notable because it blends crypto-native token launches with tokenized real-world references such as U.S. equities and metals, while keeping the platform’s own role framed as infrastructure rather than securities dealing.

The update also matters for platform competition. If creators use nontraditional quote assets and the associated fees scale, Pump.fun gains a new way to deepen on-platform activity while linking more of that business to PUMP through buybacks and burns. At the same time, the feature brings greater attention to issuer quality, operational reliability and the compliance boundaries around tokenized stock exposure.
