Bithumb Holdings Appoints New CEO Kim Ki-beom
Bithumb Holdings has appointed Kim Ki-beom, former head of external cooperation at Bithumb, as its new CEO. Lee Jae-won, the previous CEO, will step down from his position at Bithumb Holdings to focus on managing the Bithumb exchange. The decision to change the CEO was made during the board meeting, and the new CEO Kim Ki-beom has previously been responsible for legal affairs, external cooperation, and risk management. Lee Jae-won had concurrently served as the CEO of Bithumb Holdings. With this personnel change, the roles of the CEO of the Bithumb exchange and the holding company have been separated. Bithumb Holdings plans to enhance its responsiveness to changes in the regulatory environment for virtual assets and strengthen internal and external communication and compliance management through this appointment. Kim previously served as the head of external cooperation at Bithumb. Bithumb Holdings is the holding company for Bithumb, and this CEO change focuses on separating the operational responsibilities of the exchange from the external and compliance duties at the holding company level. Bithumb had previously outlined a roadmap to push for an initial public offering by restructuring its governance and internal control systems. Specific management strategies and additional organizational restructuring schedules have not been disclosed following the personnel changes.
