Kyiv Schools to Start Academic Year in Hybrid Format
In Kyiv, schools plan to begin the academic year in a hybrid format, with educational institutions required to be ready to quickly change the mode of instruction depending on the situation. Air raid alerts can last for hours, interrupting the learning process. For example, on August 28, alerts in Kyiv lasted for 158 minutes, which corresponds to almost 4 lessons out of 6. Valentin Mondrievsky, Deputy Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration, noted that various options for organizing the educational process have been developed in Kyiv, including classes in shelters for younger students and mixed or remote learning. The possibility of operating in a second shift is also being considered. Parents will be able to choose the available mode of education within the proposed models. One of the models under consideration includes organizing in-person learning in shelters for primary classes and online learning for older classes during alerts. Each school will determine the optimal model based on its capabilities and the security situation. The government is also preparing to make decisions on adapting the work of state institutions and critical infrastructure during prolonged air raid alerts.
