Core DAO Implements Emergency Hard Fork, Validators Receive Excess CORE Rewards
The blockchain project Core DAO has announced an emergency hard fork due to validators receiving CORE rewards that exceed the originally planned issuance. Core DAO stated that the situation has been controlled, and malicious validators can no longer obtain excess rewards. The upgrade will not roll back the network or revoke confirmed transactions. Core DAO previously pointed out that the rewards accumulated by a small number of validators were significantly higher than the issuance set by the protocol. The incident only involves reward issuance, and user assets remain secure. Coinbase, Bithumb, Coinone, Bitget, and LBank had restricted deposits, withdrawals, or transfers of CORE. Core DAO has not disclosed the amount of excess issued CORE, the duration of related activities, whether additional tokens have entered circulation, or the cause of the vulnerability, and stated that a technical review report will be released.
